About Our Plants

The majority of our plant inventory is Georgia-grown at our nursery and includes perennials, conifers, trees, and shrubs. We also stay abreast of current trends in the garden industry and search trusted plant sources to find other new and hard-to-find plants to offer for our discerning customers.

Please contact us to be sent a copy of our current inventory of conifers, perennials, shrubs, vines and trees. Due to our small staff size and large inventory, these lists are updated once or twice a year, so it is possible that some of the listed items may have sold out. Please check with us to determine availability, sizes, and prices for specific plants. Due to the presence of Hellebore Downy Mildew on our property, we are no longer selling Hellebores.  See the link below for more information on Hellebore Downy Mildew which describes how we are handling the disease in our gardens.

  • Hellebore Downy Mildew Information

Our plant labels used in our retail sales area provide information on each plant including scientific and common names, mature size and shape, growing requirements, flowers, and other characteristics. You are welcome to use our labels to produce markers for your own garden. The labels are printed on weatherproof matte inkjet labels available from onlinelabels.com. Note that these are master lists and include plants that may not be currently available at the nursery, see plant list above for current inventory.

About Our Gardens

The sales area of Piccadilly Farm Nursery and Gardens is surrounded by many acres of display gardens which are open year round during daylight hours to visitors. These gardens provide a place for customers to see mature specimens of plants before purchasing them for their own garden, and include the Hellebore Trail and Winter Garden, Hill and Dell Shade Garden, and Gateway Sun Conifer Garden. Come on your own to wander and explore at will, attend our Garden Fair or Fall Open Houses for a tour, or schedule a guided tour for your group. Most of the proceeds from nursery sales are used to maintain the gardens.

The gardens of Piccadilly Farm Nursery and Gardens were begun when Carleen and Sam Jones moved to the property in 1982, and continue to be improved and expanded today by their daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Bill Hinesley. The style of the gardens is natural and informal with winding trails linking various garden areas. Plants in the gardens include: many types of flowering bulbs and perennials; a large collection of camellias and Japanese maples; natives including ferns, wildflowers, shrubs, and trees; and hundreds of types of conifers. Feel free to take photos, enjoy our whimsical garden art, read a book on a quiet bench in the shade, listen to the waterfall in the pond garden, or have a picnic while you are here. Our only rules are that dogs should be kept on a leash to protect our nursery cats, and for your safety, please do not enter nursery production areas unless accompanied by a staff member.

About Our Staff

Piccadilly Farm Nursery and Gardens was begun in 1982 by Sam and Carleen Jones. Sam, a retired professor of Botany at the University of Georgia, and Carleen, a retired biology teacher (now both deceased), are highly regarded in the nursery field. They helped organize the Perennial Plant Association and the Georgia Perennial Plant Association, wrote numerous articles on plants, and won numerous honors and awards for their contributions to the industry. Sam and Carleen's daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Bill Hinesley, began working at Piccadilly Farm in 2010 and continue to operate the nursery. Sam remained active in the management of Piccadilly Farm Nursery until his death in 2016. Valerie and Bill's daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Jacob Douylliez, now live on the farm and assist us in our work. Their daughter and our granddaughter, Valerie, makes the fourth generation of the family at Piccadilly Farm! To keep up with the latest industry news, we maintain memberships in organizations such as the Perennial Plant Association and American Conifer Society. Piccadilly Farm Nursery and Gardens has received Awards of Merit from both of these organizations. Please contact either Valerie or Bill for assistance with your plant needs.
